On this week's 1430 Connection, it’s part two of a two-part interview about the poisoning of bald eagles on the Delmarva Peninsula. WNAV’s Donna Cole interviews Ed Clark, founder and director of the Wildlife Center of Virginia. Between 2009 and 2019, Maryland has had at least 30 bald eagles, plus other wildlife, killed by carbofuran, which is a federally banned pesticide. The Delmarva Peninsula includes Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. Why doesn't Virginia have the carbofuran/eagle issue, but Maryland & Delaware do? They did, but Virginia banned carbofuran ahead of the EPA & required registration of it. Ed explains how this was accomplished and how it made such a difference.
