Scouting in big cities is all about providing more opportunities for youth to learn new skills and experience new things. For Albert Lopez of Troop 489 in Austin, TX, this is true for his troop and every troop in the Capitol Area Council. In big cities, many families don't have the opportunity to connect with the outdoors. Austin, in particular, is home to many families that are not only new to Scouting but new to the country. Scouting America provides these families the opportunity to connect with one another, build friendships, and help prepare their children for life.
