Naivasha is located 57 miles north west of Nairobi with a population of over 355 thousand people and home to over 400 species of birds. You can arrive in Naivasha by driving along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway from Nairobi. The Maasai people were the first to settle in the area around the 15th century. Due to a need for fresh pastoral lands and fresh water for their livestock, the Maasai left their ancestral home in south Sudan and moved southwards to settle in Kenya and Tanzania. Later in the 19th century, Europeans started to locate to Naivasha. The main industry in the region is agriculture and is well known for beautiful flower farms. It is also a popular tourist destination where you will find hells gate national park where some scenes from lion king was shot. And of course there is Lake Naivasha. Lake naivasha Naivasha has a large fresh water lake that is home to many hippo and pink flamingos, you can take a boat trip on the lake or walk alongside the wildlife on Crescent Island.
