NEW LEBANON-- It's tough to interview a mother about the child she lost but Kathy Morgan is a special woman and so was her daughter Nasya. Nasya passed away from D.I.P.G. That is the same disease that took the life of Lauren Hill from the greater Cincinnati area. Morgan heard the news about Hill's death through Facebook. Kathy knows Hill may be gone but her legacy will live on. "I think her legacy will go on forever. I think she really put her stamp on this world and I think the imprint of it has touched so many people all over the world and I don't think it will stop. I think it really just set it in stone to get the ball rolling that and say 'Hey these kids deserve more and she did that,'" said Morgan. Kathy Morgan knows all too well the pain to lose a daughter to D.I.P.G. She lost Nasya in November. "It's us who are left here that suffer. They're happy. They're healthy, they're no longer suffering and it's us that are left behind to suffer and miss them and try to carry on with a normal life," said Morgan. Kathy says it is tough to watch other families go through what she's already been through. "I relive it. With each death I relive hers and my heart goes out to them a lot," said Morgan. The typical age for someone to get D.I.P.G. is between five and eight years old. Morgan says Lauren Hill was someone special, someone who gave a voice to the children who couldn't talk about their disease. "It was so amazing! God couldn't have picked a better vessel to do this in. She (Lauren) literally took it upon herself to forget everything that she was battling with and her main purpose was to get this D.I.P.G. out there and to help these kids," said Morgan. Nasya and Lauren actually got the chance to meet. Kathy knows they're reunited in heaven. "It was as if she's (Lauren) suffering with this huge battle herself but wasn't even paying attention to it. She was more worried about Nasya. More worried about all the other kids and how she was going to save them," said Morgan. Kathy hopes Lauren's efforts will someday lead to a cure and that other families won't have to go through what these two have had to endure. "I can't thank her enough for doing that for us because not everyone would do that but her heart and her compassion are just beyond words. I just really can't even describe it but it was amazing," said Morgan.
