Artist: Red Axes Label: Klasse Recordings Genre: Electronic Release date: 09 Aug 2011 Tracklist: Bela The Tower The Tower (Yotam Avni Remix) The Tower (Mr. Ho CC81 Remix) KLS008 sees Klasse Recordings welcome a new addition to the KLS family, in the form of Tel Aviv based act, Red Axes (aka Niv Arzi and Dori Sadovnik). The Bela EP is an impressive debut of percussive rhythms and skilled production, both original and unique. Title track Bela wastes no time in getting to the point, frantic drums and loudspeaker fanfare blasts announce the intentions of this peak-time dancefloor track. The jazz drums and vocal snippets play over a popcorn style lead, transporting the track to a warped and surreal synth line that changes the direction and takes the listener deeper and darker before returning to the original groove with greater energy than before. This is a track that cannot fail to get people moving... The Tower retains the skippy drums and loose refrain but heads in a warmer and deeper direction. Breathy vocals and rhodes-style pads collide over drum-machine grooves, culminating in a beautiful and delicate climax that is both tough and soft at the same time. Fellow Israeli Yotam Avni is first up for the remix duties on The Tower, and works the original into a wonderful piece of music. Heading even deeper, Yotam calls on filtered pads and strings that interact lightly with arpeggiated synth lines and freestyle saxophone. Swathing sound effects make this track perfect for those 'sunrise/sunset' moments on the beach. KLS gang member Mr. Ho steps up to provide a great remix of The Tower. Working the 808 and 909 drums to their limit, the track starts off suspenseful and patient before dropping into an intense and powerfully driven hook-line. Drawing on the sweaty and jacking feel of old Chicago House, Mr. Ho's CC81 remix is a great example of a track with complete balance and perfect execution. ENJOY!
