Location: Grabouw Elgin Country Club Date: Sunday 18th July 2021 Route distance: 21km Route type: AWD/4x2 Time: 1h (if you don't stop to enjoy the beauty) 2h (at leisure) 3h (if you stop for tea, lunch, photo opportunities and get stuck a few times) This is the Revised AWD route since the original route became inaccessible to AWD/4x2 cars due to heavy rains eroding steeper rocky sections of the route. There are plenty 4x4 only roads within the Grabouw 4x4 area. Recommend to view video at 3x to 5x playback speed to enjoy the full route. For the rougher parts of the route jump to the following times: 06:05 16:45 19:30 24:05 28:05 46:35 Car: 2016 Subaru XV 2.0 CVT Mods: 15" wheels with Dunlop Grandtrek AT5 225/70R15. 25mm lift kit (stock ground clearance was 220mm before lift). Metal bashplates under engine and rear differential. Drove with traction control ON most of the time. At least twice you will hear TC kick in and brake a wheel that is spinning freely thereby giving traction to other wheels/axle. Nowhere did we need to get out and pack/move rocks to make route easier. Only stopped a few times for photos or to have navigator guide driver through tricky sections. The third quarter last section with plenty greenery on center island and sides of track which we have been advised will be cleared a bit in coming week(s) by the landowner.
