Presented By: Kenneth Gavina, PhD, D(ABMM), SM(ASCP)CM Speaker Biography: Kenneth Gavina is an American Board of Medical Microbiology (ABMM)-certified Clinical Microbiologist with the Indiana University School of Medicine. He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and currently serves as the Medical Director of Clinical Microbiology and Serology for Eskenazi Health. His research interests revolve around molecular diagnostics, diagnostic stewardship, novel assay design for emerging infectious diseases, and developing affordable point-of-care diagnostics for use in low-resource settings. This is largely due to environmental climate change, the expansion of new tick populations, as well as several other factors occurring both naturally and through human intervention. Tick-borne diseases are a significant public health concern, posing challenges both diagnostically and regarding national surveillance.
