This is documented onformation Jay Mohr stealing a bit from Rick Shapiro when Jay performed on Saturday Night Live. The book is called: Gasping for Airtime by Jay Mohr. Pages of importance are 276-279, where as Jay admits to stealing from Rick. It is posted that Rick received some undisclosed sum of money for this action - this is not true as well. Listen to the www.wtfpod.com episode December 3rd, 2012 at minute marker 40:22... "One of the most interesting parts about the book is Jay's confession that he stole material from Rick Shapiro to create one of the few sketches of, er, his that saw the light of day. Rick, who's kinda the patron saint/cautionary tale for downtown comics, apparently threatened to sue and according to this account proved the bit was his own. And presumably got a big check that prevented him from sucking dick for heroin for a while." "Unfortunately, there's generally no accountability for comic larceny—even when the culprit cops to the crime. In his book Gasping for Airtime, Jay Mohr owns up to an unusually high-risk robbery: When he was a cast member on Saturday Night Live, Mohr watched popular New York comedian Rick Shapiro do a set in a local club, transcribed it word for word, and submitted it as his own work for a sketch that made it to air. Several weeks later, after Shapiro sued Saturday Night Live, Lorne Michaels showed Mohr a tape of Shapiro doing the bit and asked if he had seen it before. Though Mohr denied it, the show settled with Shapiro for an undisclosed sum. Mohr, however, suffered no repercussions at all." Google Jay Mohr and Rick Shapiro and a number of references to this issue came up. http://books.google.com/books?id=JGXI...
