If you want a book that gives you a framework and teaches you about the history of pirates the Be More Pirate – Or How To Take on the World And Win by Sam Conniff Allende is the book for you. Be More Pirate: https://www.bemorepirate.com/ Be More Pirate starts off by charting the history of pirates and far from being the Captain Jack Sparrows – swashbuckling stereotypes of the 21st century, pirates were some of the most forward thinking groups that graced the oceans of the 18th century. Pirates were some of the first communities to establish same sex marriage, equal votes (for men AND women) and workplace compensation? Yes, that’s right if you lost an arm or a leg you were entitled to a pre-defined number of pieces of eight. Sam then expands on this to give readers a framework – their own pirate code - which likes groups can use to elicit reach social change for the major challenges we in 2018 are facing. Rather than rallying against the horror of being in the Royal Navy in the Golden Age of Pirates think more along the lines of a framework to help combat environmental disaster, political injustice and corporate greed. It’s a damn good book filled with various examples from people across the globe who have are official pirates. Some of them like Elon Musk you could probably guess at. Others on the other hand are small community organisations who are creating real change for the issues that matter to them. Read it. In the digital marketing community it’s often really hard to get good book recommendations from cool topics which aren’t about digital marketing.
