Eglė - trys milijonai laisvių (three million freedoms)
January 13, 1991. Soviet launched a military operation with elite KGB troops against Lithuania. Journalist Eglė Bučelytė was broadcasting from Television studio in Vilnius when Soviet forces broke into the building to cut off her live broadcast. Thousands of unarmed Lithuanians headed the iconic TV tower at about 0200 local time, singing Lithuanian songs to make a stand against Soviet troops and reclaim Baltic State’s independence. 14 innocent civilians were killed and 702 were injured. The people of Lithuania demonstrated their inner strength, they defeated the Soviet aggression and defended their freedom in the spirit of truth and love. We do not own rights to this video. The witnesses of the events of those days share their memories in the film which also presents a unique material from the archives.
