From the 17 March 2026 (Resources further below) Rising temperatures are increasingly disrupting children’s education. In 2025, temperatures exceeded 40°C in many parts of the world and climate projections suggest many students will face far more extreme heat days by 2050. This has serious implications for education systems that do not adapt, including undermining concentration and well-being in class, as well as forcing some schools to shut down. In this webinar, a panel of experts discussed findings from a new paper, What are the likely impacts of rising temperatures on students and how are countries adapting? which combines primary school-level population data with climate projections and assess the future risks to students as well as potential solutions. Speakers included: -Conceição Pinheiro, Teacher, Moimenta da Beira’s School Cluster, Portugal -Maria Soledad Bos, Advisor, Social Sector, Interamerican Development Bank -Maria Sitzoglou, Architect and urban designer -Andreas Schleicher, OECD Director for Education and Skills Moderated by Duncan Crawford, Senior Content Manager, OECD Directorate for Education and Skills Resources You can access the full report ‘What are the likely impacts of rising temperatures on students and how are countries adapting?’ here 👉 https://doi.org/10.1787/960244d5-en You can check out the slides here if you have access to Slideshare 👉 https://www.slideshare.net/slideshow/...
