NIMAK has been using magneticDRIVE technology in robot welding guns for some time now. In addition to the known advantages, such as quickly retractable force and current profiles and the associated process monitoring, there is another big plus here in the area of aluminum welding. These guns do not require external compensation via a robot. Both electrode arms of the gun, which are in contact with the metal sheets, operate in a force control loop: the magnet works on the so-called "fixed" arm of the gun, while a servomotor works on the movable arm. Since both have force sensors, a balance of forces is always maintained at that point. The whole in a range of highest welding currents up to 70kA, which generate an enormous magnetic field. This force equilibrium ensures virtually no sliding or unwanted axial movement of the caps. Thus, a significantly longer service life of the electrode caps can be achieved. In addition, this also has a positive effect on more uniform lens growth of the ALU point.
