26 January 1994 In 1994, Australia Day became a national public holiday on January 26th. It was also the inaugural Australia Day Spectacular held at Darling Harbour, featuring a closing concert, lights and pyrotechnics show; a tradition that continues to this day. Prince Charles was also in attendance. Fireworks were launched from an array of barges and pontoons within Cockle Bay and adjacent city buildings including Sydney/Centrepoint Tower. The show was sponsored by Coca Cola. Collected scenes featuring a performance of 'I Still Call Australia Home' performed and arranged by Noel Elmowy, and sung by Chris Lloyds and Andrew Oh, and an excerpt from the 1994 documentary 'Charles: The Private Man, the Public Role'. YT credits to Reelsarency and Chris Lloyds for the footage.
