Herbal Pharmacy Manager talks about AIMC Berkeley’s Herbal Pharmacy

“[In my time at AIMC Berkeley’s herbal pharmacy], I learned how to do all the visual herbal identification and my herbal ID is now very sophisticated and I am able to recognize qualities of herbs as well as differentiate between different varieties of herbs.” AIMC Berkeley alumni and Herbal Pharmacy Manager, Jill Morgyn, talks about her interest in herbal medicine and her background in Oriental medicine. As part of their clinic internship, students in the Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) program complete one herbal pharmacy clinic shift. Over the course of a term, senior students work one weekly four-hour shift as a pharmacy intern and learn how to read and fill Traditional Chinese Medicine prescriptions and invoice patients for medical billing. The TCM herbal pharmacy has an extensive inventory consisting of single herbs and formulas in raw, teapill and granule form. AIMC Berkeley is a non-profit integrative medicine college that prepares students for careers in alternative medicine and offers a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM).
