Why You Should Be Saved Preached 3-1-26 AM | Romans 14:8 In Romans 14:8, the Apostle Paul writes, “For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.” In one powerful verse, we are reminded that life is not about us—it is about belonging to Him. Salvation is not merely about escaping hell; it is about being claimed by the Lord of glory. To be saved is to have ownership settled. Without Christ, a man belongs to sin. He is bound by the flesh, driven by self, and condemned already. But when a sinner trusts Christ, everything changes. He is no longer his own. He is bought with a price. He becomes the Lord’s in life and in death. Salvation answers the greatest question of all: Whose are you? This verse also reminds us of the certainty of eternity. We will either live unto the Lord or face eternity without Him. Death does not erase ownership—it reveals it. When a believer dies, he still belongs to the Lord. When he lives, he lives under His authority. Salvation secures both sides of the grave. Why should you be saved? Because you were created to belong to God. Because sin separates you from Him. Because Jesus Christ paid the full price to redeem you. And because one day, whether in surrender or in judgment, every life will answer to Him. To be saved is to settle that now—to bow willingly, to belong fully, and to live confidently knowing that whether in life or in death, you are the Lord’s.
