I was making some benchmarks in preparation for new CPU releases to have a point of comparison for later and decided to do some 6900K stock vs OC numbers while I am at it. I've picked some of the most CPU problematic games that I have ever encountered and added two "normal" ones as well. Full list of games, specs and settings below. 6900K - 3.5 GHz all core, 2.8 GHz cache, 4x8 DDR4-2400 18-18-18-36-438-2T, not tuned 6900K OC - 4.5/4.4 GHz core, 3.4 GHz cache, 4x8 DDR4-3400 13-13-13-39-289-1T, tuned Lord of the Rings Online, 3840x1600, Max Settings, MSAA Off, Blood of the Black Serpent The Witcher - 3840x1600, Max Settings, MSAAx4, Trade Quarter The Witcher 2 - 1920x800, Max Settings, Ubersampling On, Foltest's Camp The Witcher 3 - 1920x800, Max Settings, Hairworks Off, Novigrad AC Origins - 1920x800, Max Settings, Alexandria CS:GO - 1920x800, Lowest Settings, FPS Benchmark Map LOTRO is an extremely CPU bound MMO with some of the most disastrous performance you can find in any game. The Witcher is DX9 single-threaded game that is having huge performance problems in dense areas. The Witcher 2 is also DX9 single-threaded, and enabling Ubersampling walks back on deferred rendering, which removes all the artifacts and aliasing caused by it, but also doubles both CPU and GPU requirements. The Witcher 3 is added as an example of well optimized modern multi-threaded game. AC Origins is an example of broken and unoptimized game despite being modern and multithreaded. This applies to almost all modern Ubisoft titles. CS:GO is commonly used benchmark that anyone can run for free, so it is a good point of comparison. This is a really tough selection that includes some of the most CPU problematic games I've ever seen, I will run that again on a new CPU, whatever it ends up being, and compare to 6900K. For 6900K, overclocking resulted in 36% gain on average and up to 48% for 1% lows.
