He created his unique style by blending vocal elements with this woodwind instrument. He was a purist and a strict disciplinarian and he insisted on presenting our Raag music in its pure form. He never came down to the level of cheap entertainment and refused to play to the gallery in the name of popularizing the music or his instrument by resorting to any gimmicks or acrobatics.
