Design Futures Forum 2025: Sustainability x Emerging Tech (The Honest Truth: Grace Sai)

As we work towards a more ecologically sustainable and regenerative future, while technology offers solutions, it is also a source of problems. This session examines the topic from both angles, suggesting multiple ways of framing – and reframing – our relationships with both technology and nature. If technological innovation is primarily aimed at serving human needs, how can we make sure it also serves the needs of non-humans? The forum explored design's shift away from simplistic solutionism towards new modes of negotiating complexity, and examined how everything – including Sustainability, Care, and Emerging Tech – is intricately intertwined.
