FINAL SCORE: RBAI 15 (15) -5 (5) EXTENDED HIGHLIGHTS On a wet and dreich Friday evening RBAI and Campbell College played out their 2nd XV Schools Cup Final at Belfast Harlequins ground at Deramore. RESULTS TO GET TO FINAL 1st Rd: CCB 40-0 Foyle College (4 Dec 2024) Royal School Armagh 2s 12-45 RBAI 2s (14 Dec 2024) Qtrs: 18 Jan 2025 Enniskillen GS 2s 12-52 RBAI 2s CCB 2s 56-14 Belfast Royal Academy 2s Semis: 1 Feb 2025 Ballymena Academy 2s 18-30 CCB 2s Wallace HS 2s 19-19 RBAI 2s Replay: RBAI 2s 29-12 Wallace 2s (3 Mar 2025) FINAL Despite the wet conditions the standard of play was very high - particularly in the first half - with both teams showing good continuity in offence with good handling/passing. Both sides - because of the conditions - did kick for territory a fair bit but both defences handled the kicks and high balls well. There were a lot of lineouts as a results of the kicks but both teams did keep the ball in hands a number of times and made good use of it, The second half did see a few more spilled balls than the second but even so this was a high quality game on a difficult evening to play flowing football. In the game RBAI scored after about 10 minutes of play (unconverted) for a 5-0 lead. five minutes later RBAI were given a penalty which was converted for a 8-0 lead. Five minutes later again and RBAI scored once more (this time converted) for a 15-0 lead. CCB responded well and scored just before HT. The conversion was missed and the referee blew for the break. The second half so no more scores. Play was pretty well balanced in the second half and CCB had a couple of periods of pressure in the RBAI 22 - but were unable to convert the pressure into scores. A great effort from both sides but Inst - because they showed an ability in the first half to convert their chances - deserved the win in the end,
