This might be the first centrifugal exhaust fan featured on my channel. Here’s my KDK 17CDQNA, which I’ve been using in the master bathroom at home. I bought this fan together with a KDK 15AAQ back when the house was still around 80% finished. At the time, I noticed the developer didn’t provide any exhaust system or even space for one in the bathrooms. No wonder some of my neighbors ended up with black mold in their bathrooms or powder rooms. Most of them are fully enclosed with no windows or ventilation at all. That’s why I insisted every bathroom and kitchen in my house should have proper ventilation, including a fan. For this particular master bathroom, the ceiling goes straight up to my attic floor slab, leaving very little space for air to naturally flow. So, I chose a centrifugal exhaust fan because it can be ducted and redirected outside, unlike axial fans that just blow into the empty ceiling space. Another reason I went with a compact centrifugal fan like this is because, when the bathroom door is closed, it becomes an airtight space. Axial fans in such a setting usually make loud rumbling noises and may even suck in air from the floor drain, causing unwanted odors. With this KDK sirocco fan, I’ve had none of those issues and I’m really happy with my decision. In terms of performance, this exhaust fan works quietly but effectively. It doesn’t instantly remove all the steam or odors, but it does so gradually and consistently. That makes it ideal to run 24/7, especially since it's energy eficient and uses bearing support to maintain smooth, constant rotation. I’ve also connected it to a smart switch, which lets me schedule on/off times to make sure it runs optimally without forgetting to give it some rest. The only thing that still puzzles me is how to open it up for a deep clean without removing it from the ceiling. So far, I’ve just been cleaning it gently with a brush. But overall, I’m confident this fan will last for a long time with very minimal maintenance.
