CiFi Records Presents: COREY FELDMAN OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO OF “RUNAWAY” FROM LOVE LEFT 2.1 BOX SET: This Amazing Time Capsule has been completely restored from the Original 1986 VHS tape it was found on. “Runaway” was the very first song Corey ever wrote, produced & Recorded. Filmed at his fathers tiny 1 bedroom Hollywood apartment in 1986 while Corey was shooting “The Lost Boys”. The cast is made up of a group of Corey’s closest friends at the time. 2 boys his own age, featuring his cousin Michael, and close friend Jason who was also a child actor, a female actress/dancer, a magician introduced to him by Michael Jackson named Majestik, (not an abuser) and 2 men who would actually become Corey’s sexual abusers just a few short weeks after this video was shot. The video was directed and Choreographed by a young Feldman. Impressive work for a 15 Yr old amateur. Shockingly the couch in the video was Corey’s bed during this time. Breaking the preconceived notion that Corey was a “spoiled Rich Kid with a silver spoon in his mouth.” The shocking reality is much more upsetting. Corey wrote this song as a “Cry for Help” The song and video which originally had a 10 minute scripted build up to the musical part of the short film, was about an abused kid, who ran away and ended up on the streets where he would be discovered by Majestik’s character (Black Jack) the town Pimp, in an alley, who convinces Corey to come upstairs to this warm safe apartment for a hot meal and some clean clothes. Once Corey’s character (The Kid) makes his way upstairs the 2 “Heavies” played by J. Grissom and A. Rivas tackle The Kid to the ground, tie him up, force feed him Crack Cocaine and push him into a bedroom where he’s tied up by the wrists w a young female. This is now a holding cell of sorts. They are both told they must put on a sexual show. The door closes. Giving them time for the drugs to take effect making them more subservient. After time passes and the 2 bad guys realize that The Kid isn’t coming out and the door is locked from the inside, they decide to break it down. That is where this clip from the Short Film picks up. Shockingly The Kid has transformed from a. sheepish and ragged kid, to a super hero type rock star who zaps the heavies, with some sort of magic power, which takes control of all of them and hypnotizes the other slaves into a trans like synchronized dance, freeing the other children from the bondage and controlling the bad adults by making them become his back up dancers. Unfortunately the rest of the footage including the dialogue scenes was never recovered. But Corey felt the world should have a peek into what his childhood was really like. And where he came from, to help people understand his artistic vision. This video clearly shows the innocence of his youth while also clearly calling out for someone parental to notice who he was surrounded by, and the hope that they would stop the abuse, before he ended up on the streets, essentially it was a cry for help. Just 6 months after this project was shot, Corey left his fathers apartment and filed for emancipation at 15 years old. Which the Court’s awarded him. Making him a legal adult by 16. Ironically it was 1 of his abusers shown in this video (now a Fugitive convict) who helped him obtain the legal council to move fwd with his case. Corey made the decision to include this video as part of his box set, because he felt it was as poignant as it was timely. Corey wrote in his 2012 book Coreyography that he was left unattended most of his time at home, and was literally surrounded by Pedophiles. Well as you can clearly see, he was not exaggerating. This video should serve as a warning to all parents to listen to your children, never leave them alone with adults outside of the family, and most importantly LOVE your children with everything we have as they are ours to protect.
