In injection molding, lifters are an integral part of the mold to ensure proper removal of your finished part, retracting any sort of undercut section from the mold during its ejection process. Keeping these areas of the mold well lubricated with grease that is appropriate for your application, compatible with the materials being molded is key. Steps Involved: Pull lifter from the mold Remove any old grease with a quality aerosol mold cleaner Apply a thin layer of grease to all four sides of the lifter, using a brush to ease the application Squeeze off any excess grease from the lifter to leave a nice thin layer on all four sides Reinstall the lifter in the injection mold and ensure that no grease has entered the mold cavity surface High-wear or high-lift angles will require you to re-grease the back of the lifter as much of the excess grease will be pushed up to the back away from the cavity Check for any excess grease in your shutoffs, if those are present
