Geneva Solutions, a new journalistic platform dedicated to covering International Geneva, will be launching in May 2020 at the address www.genevasolutions.news. In the meantime follow-us on Twitter @GenevaSolutions! On 7 February 2020, we held a kick-off event to bring together actors and players from International Geneva to present our vision for the media as well as discuss the five key themes which will be covered daily by our newsroom: Climate Change, Internet Governance, Sustainable Business and Finance, Peace and Humanitarian and Global Health. We asked thought-leaders to give us their perspective on one of these themes. Heba Aly is the Director at The New Humanitarian (formerly IRIN News), a media which amplifies the voices of those affected by conflicts and disasters to inform more effective and accountable responses by the international community. She shared her views on how the Peace & Humanitarian sector is covered by the media. Heba Aly (@hebajournalist) is a multimedia journalist by training, she spent one decade reporting from conflict zones in the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia before joining the transition team that led IRIN's spin-off from the United Nations to a non-profit newsroom. Her work has taken her to places like Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Chad and Libya; and she received a grant from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting for her work in northern Sudan. She was named in 2018 one of 100 Young Global Leaders under 40 by the World Economic Forum and the New African Magazine designate her one of the 100 Most Influential Africans of 2018.
