My friend Jon and I came across the abandoned ruins of this plant while staying at another friend's cabin, to do astro/night photography in the area. In 1911, the Bayless Pulp and Paper plant, in the mountains of Austin Pennsylvania, Potter County, would cause the death of 78 citizens of that town when the Austin Dam feeding the plant failed. This would be the second worse dam failure in Pennsylvania history. The Johnstown Flood/South Fork Dam disaster, 22 years earlier, being the worse. (2,200 deaths).
