Metamorphosis Medicine YouTube Challenge D#4 33 Getting Real-- New York and Visiting Scholar Stint

31 January 2024. What stops doctors from seeking creative solutions to our practice challenges and feeling powerless in the healthcare system that depends on us? In this next installment showing how I came to this path (the good, the bad, and and ugly!), I share the "behind the curtain" details of my preparations for my year devoting attention to understanding what was not working with practice and how to create a new practice environment. I review some of the challenges of organizing my parachute (a/k/a credible holding position) as a sabbatical to be a visiting scholar and choosing a project I anticipated that I could complete within a year. I also discuss my financial plan and how I would continue ramped-down clinical activity. I review the significance of location and patient population in embracing new ideas were also factors in my plan. My intention is to provide a kickstart for viewers to reflect on their practices and start imagining a more detailed version of their parachutes.
