Major downtown Toronto intersection now closed for over a month

A major downtown intersection is now closed for more than a month as crews work to renew streetcar tracks in the area. The City of Toronto says that as of 7 a.m. Monday, the intersection of Bay and College streets will be closed to all vehicle and cyclist traffic. Pedestrians and businesses will still have access, although temporary sidewalk closures may be required, and alternate cycling routes will be in place as well as adjustments to keep vehicle traffic moving. The city says the closure is to accommodate plans to replace the combined sewer and combined service lateral pipes on College Street, from Yonge Street to Bay Street. The TTC will also renew the tracks on College and Carlton streets from Bay to Church Street.
