Where Did Critical Peace Studies Go? | A Talk With Professor Dr. Werner Ruf | Neutrality Studies

🌟Where is the peace movement? And where are its academics? Many of us have been wondering what happened to the hippies, the activists, the journalists, the musicians, and the masses of people at Universities who once stood on podiums, hilltops, and in front of cameras, campaigning locally and internationally to end the wars in Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Irak, Afghanistan, etc. They seem to have all but vanished in the first year of the war in Ukraine. What happened? I’m joined today by a German heavy weight of “critical peace studies” to approach that question. Dr. Werner Ruf is Professor for international and inter-societal relations and foreign policy. He obtained his PhD in 1967, from the University of Freiburg, taught and researched in the US, in France, North Africa, Yugoslavia (later Croatia), and Germany for decades.
