EMANUELE DELUCCHI plays "Passacaglia C-Minor BWV582" by JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH, transcribed for performance on the piano by EUGEN D'ALBERT. Bach's Passacaglia is among his most well-known organ works and, despite being an early piece, convincingly demonstrates his compositional abilities: The bass line is a combination of two themes by ANDRÉ RAISON, making it a comparatively long ostinato. The Passacaglia leads directly into a double fugue featuring the first half of the bass line as the main subject of the theme. D'Albert's transcription mostly follows Liszt's more faithful model of "Klavier-Übertragungen" and was particularly admired by Busoni.
