My first Gary Moore recording was Thin Lizzy 'Black Rose' in 1979. I was 16. I was in awe of his guitar work on the song 'black rose'. From that time on, I was hooked. I quickly dug up his fusion work with Colosseum 2 and learned all of that as well. I preferred his fusion/rock days of Lizzy, Colosseum 2, and his 80's work over the blues thing that came later in 1990, which was no change in style for 20 years, but he was a chameleon and that's how he stayed in the business. He realized ''heavy metal' was on the way out in the late 80's and switched gears. Blues had staying power. He influenced many shredders. I was learning his solos back in 1980 when I had nothing but guitarists in my record collection. I have never played 'Still got the blues' before, mainly as I was probably sick of hearing it on the radio all the time. Turns out, it was one of the few new songs I played that people recognized and I was able to do my own solo over it. If you can't play blues and improvise, you shouldn't be playing blues at all. As one of my astute viewers noticed, what is going on at 5:50? I didn't notice this, but it definitely looks like body disposal or a very large drug deal.
