Several months ago my mom saw a program featuring the Elkins Cass State Park Scenic Railroad. She decided to order two tickets for her an I to go on a fall excursion (hoping to see some wonderful fall folliage). On the day of the trip we woke up very early and left our house in Wexford, PA around 6AM. We arrived in Elkins, West Virginia around 10AM, and waited until about 11AM for the train ride which lasted approximately 4 hours. It was strange that no businesses were open on Sunday, and the few that were only stayed open during the time that the train was not in Elkins, so there was no where to pick up snacks except the station store. Fortunately my mom had packed some food for us and the train provided us with lunch. About mid way through the trip the train stopped and we were able to explore an area with a waterfall for 45 minutes before returning to Elkins. The return trip was significantly faster than the trip out. I have sped up/ and time lapsed some parts of the video, but essentially the entire experience is here. We got the more expensive seats and sat in the train car at the rear which was nicer and had a better view. Link to our 3+ hour trip to Elkins, WV at 16X and 4X time lapse.
