Railfanning 10/16/2023 Copyright Conrail Chicago Line Productions A friend of mine and I chased the Missouri Eastern Railroad on a beautiful October day across the ex Chicago Rock Island and Pacific mainline from St. Louis, MO to Kansas City, MO. The MER operates the 50 or so miles that are still in operation between St. Louis and Union, Missouri. Here we catch the yard job taking the outbound train out of the Lackland yard in Overland, MO out to a siding in Maryland Heights, MO. After tying it down the yard job crew went out to retrieve the eastbound freight from Union, MO and dragged it back to the east and also did some work along its journey to the TRRA interchange in north St. Louis. After that a crew got on the westbound freight to Union and we followed it out to Labadie, MO catching it in several locations. Enjoy!! Overland, MO 1. MER yard job departing Lackland yard westbound.
