What's in a Kiss/Gilbert O'Sullivan bass play along by Cara I really like the bassline and the song and bass are so melodic and complementary, the bass uses a bunch of triplets walking up to the root note or a voicing in the chord. It was played by ace studio bassist Phil Curtis and produced by longtime Elton John producer Gus Dudgeon. While researching this song I came across a vid of Gilbert and Elton playing one of Gilbert's songs "Get Down" on the same piano and trading vocals! So, a great song with pro musicians. Steven Holley of Wings "Back to the Egg" played on the album, but not this song. However, I posted this on a number of bass forums and it was NOT well-received: I post stuff like this now and then and several slapping/fusion/funk bassists took issue, accusing me of "posting granny music all the time" but I don't care. I think the stuff I post is almost always challenging and interesting and they should open their minds. I go my own way, and I want to be the only young girl bassist who DOESN'T slap and play death metal and Primus and Maneskin and Muse and all the Kool Kids stuff :) I go my own way. other granny music I've posted: http:tinyurl.com/cararickoldtime #gilbertosullivan #piano #whatsinakiss #philcurtis #terrycox #martinjenner #timrenwick #offcentre #gusdudgeon
