SPLEEN tells the story of a young man who convinces himself that he is ill of an unknown disease, and gradually suffers because of this belief. The narrative unfolds through events that actually happen and others that take place in the protagonist's mind, without providing details on what is real and what is imaginary. At a certain point in the story, the protagonist is confronted with his true condition and has the opportunity to accept it and take control of his life. However, even though it seems that he is about to face reality, he decides to retreat, questioning reality itself in favor of his illusory beliefs, even when the truth is clear and evident. - SPLEEN è una storia ispirata a un’esperienza di ipocondria. La narrazione si sviluppa attraverso eventi che realmente accadono e altri che si svolgono nella mente del protagonista, senza distinguere ciò che è reale da ciò che è immaginario. A un certo punto della storia, il protagonista si confronta con la sua vera condizione e ha l’opportunità di accettarla e prendere il controllo della sua vita. Tuttavia, anche se sembra che stia per affrontare la realtà, il protagonista decide di non rinunciare alle sue illusioni allucinatorie, mettendo in discussione la realtà stessa a favore delle sue convinzioni, anche quando la verità è chiara ed evidente.
