Trekhsvyatskaya Street (in the Soviet period — Uritsky Street), known as Tverskaya Arbat is a pedestrian street located in the historical center of Tver. Trekhsvyatskaya Street is a popular place for city residents to relax and folk festivals. Many buildings located on the street are historical and architectural monuments. Trekhsvyatskaya Street is one of the oldest streets in the city of Tver, it was created by the layout of 1763 after a big fire, when the central part of the city completely burned out. The street got its name due to the fact that there was a road along it to the Three Holy Monastery, which stood in the area of the modern Palace of Children and Youth on Darwin Street. Once Trekhsvyatskaya Street was the entrance to the city, forming together with the Station Highway (now Tchaikovsky Avenue) the road from the center of Tver to the railway station. In 1901, one of the first lines of the Tver tram passed along the street from the Octagonal Square (now Lenin Square) to the railway station. From 1919 to 1991 . Trekhsvyatskaya Street was called Uritsky Street in honor of M. S. Uritsky (1873-1918), a Soviet revolutionary and political figure. In 1975, tram traffic was moved from Uritsky Street to Tverskaya Prospekt — the main street created as a result of the expansion and reconstruction of the Cooperative Lane. In 1992, the historical name was returned to the street, the street was turned into a pedestrian one.
