Behind the scenes with Nawras Altaky & Oene van Geel: https://musicmeeting.nl/nl/video/mm-e... Nawras Altaky has been playing oud since he was fifteen. When he had to flee Syria, because of the civil war, he came to live in the Netherlands but was separated from his instrument for a period. The reunion came soon after meeting Nizar Rohana and Haytham Safia, two of the best ud players in the Netherlands. At the moment he studies composition at the conservatory in Utrecht. Altaky founded the band Dyar together with bassist Lucas Dols. Last year they became known with the #SOSMoria song, for the campaign of the same name. Altaky: ”With this song we show our feelings about what is going on not only in Moria but in many other camps where people are scared to death these days for the corona virus.” #sosmoria Nawras Altaky also performed for the refugees in the camp on Moria.
