Pulp tower storage tank as per EN14015 and EN1993-4-2:2007 built in Kuopio, Finland for Mondi power flute Oy. The product density for which this tank was calculated is 1050kg/m³ and the design temperature of +90°C. The storage tank is designed with an interior diameter of 15 m and a total height of 36m. The type of storage tank used: a shell formed by a top cylindrical part, a middle conical part and a bottom cylindrical part fixed with anchor bolts to the concrete foundation. The tank was constructed aboveground, on a concrete foundation. The tank has a design pressure of 10mbar and a negative pressure (vacuum) of 20mbar. The main parts of assembly for the tank are: the shell assembly and the roof assembly. The tank was constructed out of several materials, mainly from high strength stainless steel. The shell, roof and bottom plates were made from 1.4162-1D. The compression ring and primary/secondary rings will be made out of carbon steel S355JR. The nozzles were manufactured from 1.4404 stainless steel. The roof is a cone roof with 15° slope and is sustained by IPE160 beams. The beams are positioned on the outside of the roof plate and welded around. A compression ring with the height of 250mm is formed around the beams at the center of the roof. The roof beams are braced with two ring bracings made of UNP120 beams welded to the man beams and roof plate. The roof beams will be manufactured from carbon steel S355J2. The shell assembly consists of a bottom cylindrical part made of 1 ring, a conical part made of 3 rings and a top cylindrical part made of 8 shell rings, with variable wall thicknesses.
