Welcome to the soundset for a semi-modular system, Behringer EDGE + SPICE. It is a collection of 50 patches that include basses, drums/percussion, leads, plucks, stabs/chords, generative-style patterns. There is a wide range of sound colors in the pack: massive and gentle, aggressive and soft, bright and dull, harmonic and dissonant tones, straight and polymetric rhythms. 📦 Get these patches: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/behr... 🎛 The main point of the soundset is the high level of interconnection—not just syncing the two synths with independent timbres (individual patches for EDGE and SPICE are also available on my website). In this patchbook, the timbres of the synths are fused and can’t exist separately: ✔️ They modulate each other with envelopes. ✔️ A sequence from one synth may change parameters on the other. ✔️ Triggers, clock/rhythm, run/stop modulations break predictable patterns. ✔️ Audio signals from VCOs may be used as modulation sources to create harmonies/intervals or crazy experimental inharmonic tones. 🧿 At the same time, they play different and clear roles. It’s not a sound mess, but two synths working in close cooperation. For syncing the synths, I chose SPICE as the master. I send clock to it from the DAW via USB. Then, I sync EDGE to SPICE using patch cables. On the EDGE, the PLAY button is pressed in advance, but EDGE doesn't start playing until PLAY is triggered on the SPICE. This way, launching SPICE starts both synths in sync. If SPICE is synced to the DAW via USB/MIDI, hitting PLAY in the DAW will start both synths in sync with the DAW. 📒 The soundset comes in a PDF format. Each page contains notes that explain how the patch works, what parameters are worth tweaking during playback, and how to develop the timbre during a performance. If you apply the settings consciously and try the things mentioned in the notes, you’ll learn a lot about the synth and discover its real depth. 🪩 To recreate these patches, you’ll need up to 12 patch cords. 📻 There are audio examples of all patches inside the folder with the soundset. Each patch is presented in three versions: EDGE only, SPICE only, and both together. 💾 Also, there’s a separate folder with WAV 44100/24 samples using the same timbres, with scale and BPM information. You can use them in a sampler or DAW if you want 100% the same sound as in the examples. Slice them into one-shots or loops—this is great material for further editing and processing. 🎼 All patches require sequence playback, and, obviously, the sequence itself has a strong influence on the final result. I always start by creating a sequence before patching and setting the parameters, so I can hear the notes and chords clearly. Unfortunately, it’s quite difficult to depict the exact settings of oscillator frequencies, sequencer pitch, and rhythm knobs, as they are very sensitive—even a tiny movement may shift the pitch or rhythm. I tried to be as accurate as possible to draw these settings (the way they sound in the audio examples). Don’t be upset if you can’t recreate the same melody. You may spend some time trying to repeat it, or you can create your own melodic or percussive lines. 🔮 I also recommend experimenting with the starting points of the two sequencers. This can completely change the overall groove and timbre on some steps, as two presets/sequences with their EGs, triggers, and step parameters interact. This can give lots of fun, unpredictable, and exciting results. It’s a great performance tool that lets you bring new life to a current pattern.
