This is an After Hours conversation, so there’s no script and no agenda. We just let it go where it goes. Piere Ingram is the author of I Am Poetry, and in this episode he talks about faith, words, and what it’s like to keep going when life is hard. We talk about being homeless, addiction recovery, losing parents, and why the words you say to yourself actually matter more than you think. We also talk about the difference between doing and becoming, how writing can be healing even if nobody else ever sees it, and why most of us talk to ourselves way worse than we’d ever talk to someone we love. He also reads one of his poems: “It’s okay to think big in small places.” Heads up: there’s a lot of God and scripture in this conversation because that’s how he frames his story. It’s personal, not preachy. If something in this makes you stop for a minute, that’s kind of the point. After Hours is for those conversations.
