Another JUNK BMW N63? Yeah, they're still out there. This is the 4.4L Hot-V Twin Turbo V8 from a 2011 BMW 650. These engines can be fond in the X5, X6, 550i, 750i, 650i etc and especially the early N63(Non-Technical update), are absolute garbage. These engines have so many common failure modes and both the parts AND labor are so expensive to keep running right that most people throw them away at the first repair bill. This engine was a core return from a sold engine, and had clear signs it was bad, like equal and matching holes on both sides of the block, but why? What killed this N63? Was it valve stem seals? timing chain guides? worn rod bearings? The answer may surprise you, but I've torn down 30-40 of these, and I've seen this one before.
