The Path to Rails 8 - Upgrade Rails from 7.2 to 8.0

Having recently upgraded from Rails 7.0 to 7.1, and then 7.1 to 7.2, we're finally able to upgrade Rails to 8.0! In terms of the number of things called out by the Upgrading Ruby on Rails guide, 7.2 to 8.0 is even less overall change than the upgrade from 7.1 to 7.2 was. One wrinkle we encounter during the upgrade process is a runtime error in the upgrade script while trying to evaluate the changes to the 404 error page. To resolve this, we just re-run the script and it succeeds the second time. At this point we're technically on Rails 8, but we haven't yet enabled all of the new goodies and features that are available by default in new Rails 8 apps.
