Bairagi Bazaar, Bishwanath: History and Notability 1. Centennial Poultry Market • This market is held every Sunday and Thursday at Bairagi Bazaar in Rampasha Union of Bishwanath. It carries on a tradition that is almost 100 years old. • The market sells not only poultry but also various types of native birds — such as ducks, royal ducks, pigeons, etc. • The price of poultry here is lower than other markets in the world, which attracts buyers. 2. Traditional Boat Market • The ‘Boat Market’ is held every Thursday at Bairagi Bazaar. It is a century old and is especially popular during the rainy season. • Vendors sit in rows of boats on the banks of the Makunda River, which flows past the market, and buyers and sellers haggle from noon to afternoon. • During the rainy season, when rivers and canals fill up, the demand for boats increases—because they become the only means of transportation. • The main materials of boats: Jarul, Karai, Renti, Mango, Jam, Chamrul, Shimul, Krishnachura, etc. are used to make them. The price of boats varies according to the wood and size—Jarul boats are more expensive, Shimul boats are the lowest. • In special years, severe floods can cause the construction and sale of many boats in a short time—for example, about 250 boats are sold in one day. Although its full history is not reliably known, it has a centuries-old tradition that is deeply embedded in local life. বৈরাগী বাজার, বিশ্বনাথ: ইতিহাস ও উল্লেখযোগ্যতা ১. শতবর্ষী হাঁস-মুরগির হাট • এই হাট বিশ্বনাথের রামপাশা ইউনিয়নের বৈরাগী বাজারে সপ্তাহে রবিবার ও বৃহস্পতিবার বসে। এটি প্রায় ১০০ বছরের পুরনো ঐতিহ্য বহন করে চলেছে । • হাটে শুধুমাত্র হাঁস-মুরগি নয়, বিভিন্ন জাতের দেশি পাখিও বিক্রি হয় — যেমন পাতিহাঁস, রাজ হাঁস, কবুতর ইত্যাদি । • বিশ্বের অন্যান্য বাজারের তুলনায় এখানে হাঁস-মুরগির দাম কম, যা ক্রেতাদের আকৃষ্ট করে । ২. ঐতিহ্যবাহী নৌকার হাট • বৈরাগী বাজারে প্রতি বৃহস্পতিবারে বসে ‘নৌকার হাট’। এটি শত বছরের পুরনো এবং বর্ষাকালে বিশেষভাবে জনপ্রিয় । • বাজারের পাশ দিয়ে বয়ে যাওয়া মাকুন্দা নদীর তীরে নৌকার সারি সাজিয়ে বিক্রেতারা বসেন এবং দুপুর থেকে বিকেল পর্যন্ত ক্রেতা-বিক্রেতা দরদাম চলছে । • বর্ষাকালে, যখন নদী ও খালবিল ভরে যায়, তখন নৌকার চাহিদা বেড়ে যায়—কারণ চলাচলের একমাত্র মাধ্যম হয়ে দাঁড়ায় । • নৌকার মূল উপাদান: জারুল, কড়ই, রেন্টি, আম, জাম, চামরুল, শিমুল, কৃষ্ণচূড়া ইত্যাদি কাঠ ব্যবহার করে তৈরি হয়। কাঠ ও আকার অনুযায়ী নৌকার দামে ভিন্নতা আছে—জারুলের নৌকা বেশি দামি, শিমুলের তুলনায় সর্বনিম্ন । • বিশেষ বছরগুলোতে মারাত্মক বন্যায় অল্প সময়ে অনেক নৌকা তৈরি ও বিক্রয়ের দৃশ্য দেখা যায়—যেমন এক দিনেই প্রায় ২৫০টি নৌকা বিক্রি হওয়ার ঘটনাও জানা যায় । উপসংহার ভৈরাগী বাজার বিশ্বনাথে দুইটি অনন্য ঐতিহ্য হাট – ঐতিহাসিক হাঁস-মুরগির হাট এবং বর্ষাকালে জমজমাট নৌকার হাট — দুই প্রতিষ্ঠিত বাজার চিন্তাকে ফুটিয়ে তোলে। যদিও এর পুরোপুরি ইতিহাস নির্ভরযোগ্যভাবে জানা যায়নি, তবে শত বছরের ঐতিহ্য বজায় আছে, যা স্থানীয় জীবনে গভীরভাবে গেঁথে রয়েছে। As always we hope everybody enjoys watching this amazing episode as much as we enjoyed making it & please support the channel by subscribing, Sharing & leaving a comment.
