Why Did The Eagle Appear In Numenor In The Rings Of Power Season 2?

Why Did The Eagle Appear In Numenor In The Rings Of Power Season 2? The third episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2, the eagle and the scepter wraps up with a big moment. During Queen Regent Míriel’s (played by Cynthia Addai-Robinson) coronation in Númenor, things get chaotic. An Eagle shows up, adding to the confusion. In the middle of the commotion, Míriel's cousin and political rival, Pharazôn (Trystan Gravelle), seizes the opportunity. He steps in front of the Eagle, sword drawn, and is declared the new king of Númenor. The scene is pretty bewildering, leaving us with one big question: What does the Eagle signify? Is it actually there for Pharazôn? To understand why one of the Great Eagles is in Númenor during the Second Age, we need to look back at their role in J.R.R. Tolkien's stories. The Eagles appear in The Hobbit and *The Lord of the Rings*—in both the books and the movies—as a form of divine help during the most difficult times for the heroes. Their power is so significant that they’re often seen as a kind of deus ex machina. It might look like that’s what’s happening when someone shouts, "The Eagles are coming!," but their role is actually much deeper and more important. The Great Eagles are impressive and powerful creatures living in Middle-earth. These giant, sentient eagles are known for their nobility and wisdom, acting as guardians or protectors. They often step in during critical moments in conflicts. According to the lore, they were created by Manwë, the leader of the Valar (the angelic beings who shape and care for the world), to act as his messengers and watchers in Middle-earth. The Eagles are not only incredibly strong and sharp-eyed but also highly intelligent and capable of speaking.
