I have another Saturday Assembly feature for you this week, with a new release from extreme experimental avantgarde metal label, Centipede Abyss. Nine musicians and vocalists from bands including Acausal Intrusion, 0-NUN, Thecodontion, p a n d o - m u s i c , Nothing Is Real, Pan Merakli, Lori Beth Bravo, Jm Cave contribute to this disorienting vortex of cacophonous delirium – illustrated by an abstracted alien eye on the cover art; a cosmic leviathan; a disembodied presence, looming over a the forest skyline, or luminous vapours ascending into the cosmos. This maelstrom of noise, death, jazz, grind and flashes of otherness, carries the listener into multiple states through its tumultuous momentum. The nine tracks deliver moments lasting only as long as the leading movement allows, with each member deciding whether to unleash cruelty or mercy as they execute each passage, before rhythm, tone, tempo and volume shift, collapsing into the fractal disharmonic chaos; churned and released again into a new form for another crystallised moment in time.
