Welcome to the Flow One KX250 dirt bike build. This will be our first complete dirt bike rebuild/restoration. In this video, we build our KX250 dirt bike wheels in our home garage. Aftermarket wheels can be costly ($900-$1100), so building your own wheels can be a great way to save money. Including all of the tools purchased to rebuild these wheels, we only spent between $400-$500 to build these sweet custom wheels. The process started with cutting the old spokes to remove the oem wheel hubs. Next, we removed the old bearings from the hubs. We decided to Cerakote the wheel hubs a tungsten grey to match the accents we have on the build. Following the standard cerakote procedure, the hubs came out excellent with a smooth, dark finish. Next, new bearings were installed to the hubs. Finally, we were able to start lacing the wheels. Instead of restoring our old rims, we went with a new set of Tusk Impact black anodized rims. These rims match the other accents we have going on with this build. Rocky Mountain ATV MC sells these rims, and for the rear wheel, they even come with the matching spokes. For the front wheel, we ordered a pair of excel spokes that ended up working great. We used a bit of anti-seize on the spoke threads and laced our wheels. Lastly, we trued and balanced our wheels using the Tusk motorcycle wheel truing stand. Next, we installed the tires. We did this poor man's style; using an old bucked, 3 tire spoons, and the motion pro bead buddy. Once the tires were installed, we cleaned up the brake rotors using Pryme Mx Scotch brite wheels on our bench grinder to leave a shiny, smooth finish. Last step, we bolted on a new Mika Metals sprocket and the brake rotors. This was my first time building a set of wheels and they came out excellent. Our plan for this bike is to do a full frame off rebuild and restoration. We plan to build the motor and make this thing something special. Let us know in the comments of things you want to see us do/add to the bike during its restoration. Who knows, if our channel grows large enough, maybe we will give this thing away when it's all done. Hope you all enjoyed this film. Check us out on IG and TikTok.
