The 1st of the 214th General Support Aviation Battalion based in Wiesbaden Germany have to ensure a level of constant readiness whilst training and preparing for every eventuality. Today – that eventuality is a simulated crash exercise, which will test the units responsiveness to the worst kind of disaster. To enhance realism a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter was dispatched to the Wackernheim training area along with kit and provisions to set up a command center. As well as the military response the aircraft was met by a robust civilian reaction who used the opportunity to test their ability to handle an incident like this Since 2010 there have been no major incidents involving aircraft at Wiesbaden Army Airfield, however should the worst ever happen, a well drilled response could not only prevent a similar accident from ever occurring again but also save future lives
