So when we take an x-ray proper to the surgery in bending positions, bending forwards, bending backwards, flexion, extension, stress x-rays. If there is no instability, such cases only we do a microdiscectomy. So there is no instability issues in such cases. So they can go onto the normal routine work in shorter time say in 1 or 2 months, if they are doing a sedentary job like sitting or standing job without involving much of bending then probably they can go to their duties in 15 days to 1 month. suppose if their duty depends that they have to bend like mechanical work or daily labourer. So he has to bend or dig and take a lot of stress ten probably for 2 to3 months we may have to position his daily routine work. During this period he has to stabilise his spine by doing daily exercises. The exercise can be done immediately after the suture removal. So after suture removal if he does proper exercises especially the strengthening exercises like the flexion, extension or stabilising muscles of the spine, by doing proper exercises, then they can get back to their work in a shorter period of time and without much issues. Su[pose if you have done a microdiscectomy and removed a lot of disc then probably we should advise them to avoid any severe stressful work. Sometimes they may have to change their occupation so that they don’t get recurrent attacks. Any microsurgery there will be 7 to 8% recurrence which can be avoided by taking proper precautions.
