This video just breaks down why I returned the MSI Vector 16 for the Lenovo Legion 7 Pro and some optimizations for the MSI Vector 16. How to increase RAM speed to 5600 on MSI Vector 16: Go into the Advanced BIOS and go here: Advanced\AMD CBS\UMC Common Options\DDR Options\DDR Timing Configuration Then click accept Switch Active Memory Timing Settings from Auto to Enabled then change the Memory Target Speed to 5600. @nemesis3181 Universal x86 Tuning Utility Profiles: So, this is probably the worst way to correspond with you, but it is what it is. Had no idea you responded, but since im pretty sure your the only person who loves this laptop like I do, let me throw numbers at you. So, my undervolt. I use my own custom wattage caps through ux86tuner, a 45w profile, and 55w profile. The 45w has a all core curve offset of -30, the 55w a offset of -26. These are both rock solid undervolts for my cpu, in gaming, in benchmarking, while idle on desktop. This number, -30 used to be magical, silicon lottery like numbers, every but of research ive done, everyone running this cpu can hit this undervolt. So, dozens of us hit this luck, or, this 8940hx, isn't meant to be shoved in a laptop. It can handle 112w without blinking, so running these lower watt caps at much lower voltage seems to be a cakewalk for this cpu. My temps went from locking at the junction temp I set to 88 instead of the stock 95, because it just would of hit that anyway, and the cooling in this laptop cannot handle the stock voltage at higher then around 42w. It just can't, even the max fan, just cant dissipate that heat. Now, while gaming my temps are around 73-82 depending on the game, with just the laptop fan running around 75% speed. Its stable, its pretty easy, I still cant get windows to not let the cpu try and boost its watts when it feels like it should but ux86tuner pulls it right back down immediately. Long story short I run extreme mode, so I have the uncapped 140w on the gpu, My undervolt and custom w, either 45w or 55w, no game I play needs the 55w though, so 45w is just the standard, and my system stays under 85 while gaming, with the fans sounding like a laptop, and not a jet engine. Your missing performance wasn't ram, that's just the pu loving that lower cl, the real performance your missing out on is that beast of a cpu, which honestly should be in a solid desktop gaming pc, with a real cooler, but instead they slapped it in the vector and called it a day, while I am blown away and grateful they did, I can understand why people hate on it so much. Anyway, I'll try and check back in a few days and see if you respond, your thoughts, etc. Been watching your videos in this laptop, and you seem to love it too. If you decide to undervolt, its really not hard. Download cinabench anything, 2026 is free and works fine. Run multicore test, this will load your cpu. Make sure msicenter.exe, and msicenter.somethingelseicantremember are closed through task manager, they will try and set wattage themselves, I only make the following changes. The temp 88, the three wattage boxes all 45w, the short and long pull maxed, and then the all curve offset, you can start conservative, -5, -15, both will give you a huge temp improvement already, but the lower the number the better the temps. I went lower then -30, and it was stable, I wont give you all the details, but I just stuck with 45w -30, because its full pc performance, much reduced heat, and fingers crossed knock on wood, so far zero system instability no matter what I try to do to make it instable, and reading around, im definitely not the only one getting this or far better results. Either way, keep doing you man, love your videos Registry Editor location to ad Maximum Processor Frequency: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\75b0ae3f-bce0-45a7-8c89-c9611c25e100 0:00 Introduction 2:56 Optimization Guide MSI Vector 16 3:07 RAM OC 5600MHz 3:48 Universal x86 Tuning Utility 4:20 Limit Maximum Processor Frequency 6:47 Conclusion
