How to Strip and Patina an Old Chrome Faucet to Vintage Brass

Venice Contractor Mox Construction shows how to strip old chrome faucets and get them to look vintage antique brass. During our current restoration of a 1908 bungalow in Venice we needed to strip almost all the plumbing fixtures as the look of vintage brass was what we were after. Here I'll show you what we did to achieve a vintage patina on a faucet that was originally chrome plated. Old chrome is sanded off, scratches are polished off then solution of Liver Of Sulpher is mixed and items are dropped into solution for about 5 minutes. remove item from solution and wiper vigorously to remove initial tarnish follow with a dip into a solution of vinegar and salt leave in for a few minutes
