The Blue Tomato teamriders Anna Gasser, Clemens Millauer and Clemens Schattschneider were invited to compete at the Air and Style Innsbruck 2017. It was the first Air and Style to include a women's competition again, so the first time for Anna to drop in in her "second home" Innsbruck. For Clemens Schattschneider, it was his comeback to the competition circuit after 2 years basically off his board with injuries and other setbacks. Clemens Millauer came here last year as a backup rider, but this season advanced to being an invitee at every Air + Style stop of the tour. With a podium at every Big Air competition of the season thus far, expectations and pressure for Anna were very high, especially on home turf. Expecting her to continue her winning streak, also we at Blue Tomato thought we could film a home-run from Anna, casually winning the first women's Air + Style, especially after seeing her stomp Backside Double Cork 1080s in practice - but with her teammate Clemens getting injured on his last Semifinal attempt, she wasn't as focused as she usually is and couldn't land her second qualifying run. Sometimes life gives you lemons... Clemens Millauer expanded his bag of tricks over the last few months and was hungry for the finals, while Clemens Schattschneider went all in on his first contest of the season. While Clemens Millauer confidently landed a huge Switch Backside 12 to get him through the qualifications, Clemens Schattschneider went all-in and did two Backside Triple Corks - both landing on his feet, both unable to ride out of. In semifinals, fate wasn't on Clemens Millauer's side either, and wanting to show a big trick to finish things off, he overrotated on a Switch Backside Triple Cork attempt, smashing on his back and needed medical care in the hospital. He's still recovering, but the injury wasn't as bad as it looked in the beginning.
