The Opposition leader is calling on the government to reopen the consultation process for the Hunter Offshore Wind Project. Peter Dutton has been meeting residents on the New South Wales mid-north coast, who fear the project could destroy the environment and impact local businesses. The community in Port Stephens say their concerns over the wind turbine project potentially destroying the natural environment are being ignored. The government is pushing ahead with the Hunter Coast Offshore Wind Project, which is expected to create 3,000 construction jobs, and the wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity to power more than four million homes. Community concern over the renewable energy project is not going away but is escalating as protests against the wind farm will take place in Port Stephens next Saturday.
